Exchange on the new Mexican Quality Infrastructure Law

Plan of restructuring the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS) in Mexico
The recently published 2020-2024 Sectorial Program of the Mexican Health Ministry presents the identified need for restructuring COFEPRIS, the decentralized agency responsible for protecting the public health, in order to optimise its processes to strengthen transparency.
Mexico enacts new Quality Infrastructure Law
On 1 July 2020, Mexico officially published its new Quality Infrastructure Law, which abrogates the Federal Law on Metrology and Standardisation. The new Law will come into effect 60 days after publication.

The Mexican government published on May 14th the protocol for a reopening strategy of economic, academic, and social activities. In it, the automotive, construction and mining industries were recognized as essential and will be able to restart activities after the approval of their sanitary security protocols.
